Our experienced instructors will lead you through a 60-75 minute class flowing from one posture to the next, with music playing to help promote your feeling of well being. You will be strengthening your mind body connection as you integrate your breath with your every movement. This class also promotes detoxification as it is held in a 90 degree room.
Power vinyasa is a dynamic flow of breath and movement designed to bring you one hundred percent into the present moment. The only music you’ll hear is the sound of unified breath as bodies move to a series of poses purposefully placed to help increase stamina, flexibility, strength and mental clarity. Expect for the momentum to slowly build and peak before it tapers off towards the end to more yin style poses that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and calm. Power vinyasa is an all level class heated to 95 degrees with humidity.
This class is open to all levels. The teacher will lead the class through the sequential order of asanas of the Primary Series. The key benefits of attending this class include 1) learning about the fundamental techniques of Ashtanga yoga – breath (ujjayi), bandhas (Mula, Uddiyana and Jalandhara), and the gazing points (dristi); 2) learning alignment and the subtle nuances of each pose; and 3) receiving adjustments that help you increase your physical-mental awareness and internal focus and 4) developing mindfulness, better self-awareness and a sense of calm and balance.
Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, tendons, fascia, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. This class is suitable for all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
Yin and yang tissues respond quite differently to being exercised. You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize that you have been doing only half of the asana practice.
Taoist Yin Yoga
Taoist Yin Yoga centers on the principle of reducing tension in the physical body through the practice of releasing asanas. Releasing asanas develop flexibility of the muscles and connective tissues (tendons, ligaments) allowing one to achieve full range of motion in the joints. This release of tension allows for more efficient circulation of blood and energy, allowing a practitioner to return to a more natural state of health and well being. Releasing asanas are taught in conjunction with breathing exercises and meditative practices.
Tai Chi is a holistic system of coordinated body posture and movement, breathing, and meditation used for health, spirituality, and martial arts training. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, Tai Chi is traditionally viewed as a practice to cultivate and balance qi (chi) or what has been translated as “life energy”.
